Horizontal Ring Section Self-Balancing Multistage Centrifugal Water Pump MDP85-45X4 

 

Description
ZD series self-balancing multistage ring section centrifugal water pump is designed to remove the mechanical balance drum, balance disc, balance socket and similar part, but achieve the balancing function by reverse circulation water pipe.
 
Such external bypass piping is designed for water flowing into the end of the pump from the suction side, and then reversely flow back to the discharge section in the middle, which makes the water flowing from both sides of the discharge section.
 
It will balance the axial thrust caused by the high pressure impeller from both sides and escape the mechanical wears out as well as overloaded axial force of the traditional multistage pump, and ensure the stability and endurability of the pumpset.
 
When the pump is in operation, the balancing device requires a certain amount of balancing flow through the clearance gap between the balancing device's rotating and non-rotating parts. The balance flow is subjected to considerable throttling on its way through the gap.
 

This pressure loss results in an axial force acting upon the balancing device which counteracts the impeller's axial thrust and effects the required balancing. Balancing devices are used when the axial thrust involved is extremely high, as is the case with super pressure pumps.


In any centrifugal pump, each impeller tends to produces some amount of thrust because of different pressures and different geometries on the two sides of the impeller. In a high pressure multi-stage pump (such as BFW) the number of impellers is high, thus the net thrust would be large unless something is done to balance it out. The two main ways to reduce the net thrust are to oppose the impellers or to use a balance disk/drum. For axial split pumps, it is usually most economic to oppose the impellers. About half of the stages are oriented with the suction pointing toward the coupling and the rest are oriented with the suction toward the thrust bearing. The thrust of the stages pointed in opposite directions tend to cancel out. The net thrust that the thrust bearing must take is much smaller than it would be if they all pointed in the same direction.
